Explore the story behind PETRAD AID, from humanitarian inspiration and field experience to a broader mission of dignity, inclusion, and long-term transformation.
PETRAD AID was initiated by Evanson Ekitela Epetet from a deep humanitarian conviction to serve humanity and stand with vulnerable communities in times of hardship, exclusion, and crisis. The organization grew from the belief that meaningful service should protect dignity, respond to urgent need, and create practical pathways for long-term transformation. From its earliest vision, PETRAD AID was shaped not only as an organization, but as a commitment to serve present and future generations through compassion, justice, and community-centered action.
Its foundation was strongly influenced by extensive field experience in humanitarian food assistance, emergency response, refugee support, and logistics in large, complex operational environments across Kenya and the Horn of Africa. These experiences exposed the realities faced by communities affected by poverty, displacement, crisis, inequality, and limited access to opportunity. They also helped shape PETRAD AID’s practical understanding of what effective service requires: preparedness, coordination, dignity, accountability, and the ability to respond to both immediate humanitarian need and long-term development priorities.
Over time, this vision developed into a broader humanitarian and development platform committed to supporting vulnerable and marginalized groups through integrated action. PETRAD AID expanded its focus beyond emergency concerns to include livelihoods, peace building, human rights and legal aid, education, health and nutrition, environmental action, water and sanitation, relief and disaster management, and research-driven community solutions. This evolution reflects the organization’s understanding that communities need more than short-term help; they also need inclusion, resilience, knowledge, opportunity, and systems that support lasting progress.
Today, PETRAD AID continues to build on that history by combining humanitarian values with practical local engagement. Its journey is rooted in service, strengthened by field experience, and guided by a clear commitment to building a dignified, peaceful, and inclusive society. The history of PETRAD AID is therefore not only the story of how the organization started, but also the story of how experience, compassion, and community partnership were transformed into a lasting mission of hope, empowerment, and responsible action.
