Supporting Widows & Widow-Led Households across Kenya — economic empowerment, legal aid & psychosocial support
Seven integrated thematic areas responding to the humanitarian, economic, social, and legal needs of vulnerable communities across Kenya.
Savings groups, SACCO services, urban farming, income generation, and financial literacy — supporting widows, women, youth, and vulnerable households to rebuild economic independence and resilience.
Community dialogue, mediation, conflict resolution, and social cohesion programmes that create safe, inclusive environments and strengthen relationships across communities in Nairobi and beyond.
Property rights advocacy, access to justice, legal literacy, and protection from exploitation — ensuring widows, women, and marginalized community members know and can exercise their rights.
Clean water access, sanitation promotion, hygiene awareness, and environmental conservation — improving health and living conditions for vulnerable households and communities across Kenya.
Emergency relief, food assistance, crisis preparedness, and disaster response — ensuring the most vulnerable households receive timely, dignified support during humanitarian emergencies.
Health promotion, nutrition awareness, maternal and child health outreach, and referrals — supporting community wellbeing and ensuring no household is left without access to basic health support.
Access to quality education, youth skills development, digital literacy, and community-driven innovation — equipping children, youth, and adults with the knowledge and tools to unlock opportunity and drive lasting change.

PETRAD AID serves Kenya's most vulnerable individuals and communities through practical, rights-based, and dignity-centered humanitarian and development action. Our work begins where need is greatest.
We prioritize widows and widow-led households as a core focus, while extending our programmes to all community members facing poverty, exclusion, conflict, and rights violations.
A core priority — widows facing property loss, economic exclusion, and social stigma receive dedicated economic, legal, and psychosocial support.
Children in vulnerable households and youth facing unemployment receive education support, skills development, and pathways to opportunity.
Women facing gender-based discrimination, people with disabilities, and marginalized community members receive targeted inclusion and advocacy support.
Households in conflict-affected areas receive peace building support, mediation, emergency relief, and access to basic services and legal protection.
The People Transformation and Development Aid (PETRAD AID) was founded in 2018 with a commitment to serving the most vulnerable members of our communities — including widows, youth, children, people with disabilities, and marginalized households across Kenya.
We operate through seven integrated programme areas grounded in a MEAL accountability framework and a Kaizen approach to continuous improvement. Every programme is co-designed with communities, delivered with dignity, and measured for real, lasting impact.
PETRAD AID is more than an organization — it is a community standing together for dignity, resilience, and transformation across Kenya.
Real voices. Real change. Every story represents hundreds more across Kenya.
Before PETRAD AID came to our community, I had no way to support my children after my husband left. The livelihood programme gave me skills and a small grant to start my vegetable business. Today I employ two neighbours.
My son was about to drop out of school when PETRAD AID's education programme stepped in. They paid his fees and provided books. He sat his exams and scored straight A's. I never thought this was possible for us.
We had a land dispute that had divided our family for years. PETRAD AID's legal aid team came, listened, and helped us resolve it peacefully through mediation. No lawyer fees. No court. Just justice.
Whether through financial support, volunteering, or partnership — every form of involvement directly strengthens vulnerable communities across Kenya.

When Amina's husband died in 2022, she lost not just him but her home, her assets, and her footing. A PETRAD AID legal clinic in Shauri Moyo changed everything — securing her children's inheritance rights and enrolling her in the livelihoods programme. Today she runs a tailoring business employing two other women.
